Gas Leak Prompts Evacuations In Murrieta Neighborhood

The morning leak was reported near Copper Canyon off Clinton Keith Road.

MURRIETA, CA — A natural gas leak in a residential neighborhood in the City of Murrieta forced evacuations Monday, but the Gas Company was able to quickly secure the area, officials reported.

The morning leak was reported near Copper Canyon off Clinton Keith Road. Impacted streets were Joaquin Ridge Drive, Vintage Circle and Rancho Peak Place.

Murrieta police and fire departments were on scene assisting with evacuations.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the Gas Company had fixed the problem and residents were allowed back into their homes.

There were no injuries reported and no immediate word on what caused the leak.
