'Girls Against Abuse' Bring Sounds to Murrieta

The 10 talented female recording artists who make up The Girls Against Abuse will bring their sounds Oct. 15 to the Murrieta Community Center for a benefit concert.

The Girls Against Abuse are local performers produced by Murrieta resident Jason Brawner, who has produced more than 65 "American Idol" show finalists, and is a songwriter/producer for film, television and other major artists.

The members of The Girls Against Abuse Foundation--a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization--have learned to “Recognize, Resist and Recover” from abusive situations.

"Together, the singers have shared the lessons of countless other women and at-risk youth through numerous concerts, CDs and television and radio appearances," said Kristi Reedy, a spokesperson for the group.

The Girls Against Abuse have raised thousands of dollars for shelters and organizations who educate and support victims of violence, Reedy said in a news release.

"One such organization that The Girls Against Abuse recognizes as a proactive partner in educating and supporting victims of abuse is Oak Grove Center," Reedy said.

Oak Grove Center is a residential facility in Murrieta for at-risk youth. Seventy-six children live on campus and participate in their educational and counseling programs; an additional 95 students attend the Day Program.

"A majority of the youth at Oak Grove Center have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse and other traumas," Reedy said.

A portion of the concert proceeds will be donated to Oak Grove Center, which will be used to enhance programming for the at-risk and special needs children they serve.

Tickets to “The Girls Against Abuse – Loud & Proud Concert Extravaganza!” are $10 and may be purchased at OakGroveCenter.org. The show starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the , 41810 Juniper Street in Murrieta.
