SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember Kelly Seyarto (R-Murrieta) is proud to announce that the Governor has signed AB 687, authorizing the creation of the Western Riverside County Housing Trust. This legislation is the first by Assemblymember Seyarto to be signed into law.

The Western Riverside County Housing Trust will create the necessary tool to foster a partnership between local governments, community-based charities, and builders to address state mandates related to local homeless and housing needs in Riverside County. This legislation will directly assist local cities and agencies in offsetting the costs of these unfunded state mandates.

“I was honored to carry such an important bill on behalf of the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) and our local communities,” said Seyarto. “By giving our region important tools, AB 687 will create an opportunity for the cities and residents in Western Riverside County to address these important housing issues.”

In just four-years, Riverside County reported an increase in homelessness of more than 35%. AB 687 will help bring much-needed partnerships to Western Riverside County to spark new investments in our communities.
