Head Baseball Coach Named for Vista Murrieta
Matt Mosiello will replace Kurt Ruth as head baseball coach at Vista Murrieta High School. Mosiello most recently served as head coach at Murrieta Mesa High School.

A new head baseball coach has been named for Vista Murrieta High School, it was announced today.
Matt Mosiello will replace Kurt Ruth, who remains a teacher and coach at Vista Murrieta after announcing in August he was stepping down from the lead position to spend more time with his family.
Mosiello has been a varsity head coach for 12 years, most recently serving as the head baseball coach at Murrieta Mesa High School. Before that he coached at Mayfair High in Lakewood and Edison High in Huntington Beach.
"During that time, his teams have won two league titles and advanced to the CIF Playoffs seven times," said Vista Murrieta Athletic Director Ray Moore, in a news release. "Mosiello’s 2001 Edison team won the CIF Division II Championship."
During his coaching history, Mosiello has been named Orange County Kiwanis All-Star Game Coach, Orange County Register Coach-of-the-Year, Sunset League Coach-of-the-Year, Los Angeles Times Coach-of-the-Year and CIF Division II Coach-of-the-Year, according to the news release.
Mosiello currently serves as a member of the CIF Southern Section Baseball Advisory Committee and is a coach at the Stanford University All-Star Camp held each summer, according to the news release.
As a prep athlete, Mosiello was a multi-sport athlete at Cerritos High School and received a baseball scholarship to the University of Utah, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, the news release stated.
“We are very happy to have Coach “Mo” lead our baseball program,” Moore said. “He knows baseball and how to get young men to play to the best of their abilities. Both Dave Serrano (University of Tennessee Head Coach) and Dean Stotz (Associate Head Coach at Stanford) had high praise for Coach Mosiello’s knowledge and leadership qualities.”
About Ruth, Moore said: “Kurt Ruth has done an outstanding job as our head baseball coach. Although we did not want to lose him as our head coach, we understand and support his decision. Kurt will continue to be a very valuable member of our teaching and coaching team.”
