Hiker Airlifted With Serious Injuries From Remote Menifee Trail

Riverside County Sheriff's Department's helicopter helped Cal Fire firefighters by airlifting a patient out of the mountainous area.

MENIFEE, CA —A hiker who suffered serious injuries was airlifted to a Menifee-area hospital Wednesday morning, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire said.

The hiker experienced a "medical emergency" around 10:30 a.m. and 911 was called, according to the department. The hiker was located on a hilltop near McCall Boulevard and Antelope Road, according to reports.

Firefighters realized a helicopter would be needed to retrieve the injured person as the area was inaccessible by foot or ambulance, according to Twitter posts.

Riverside County Sheriff's Department Rescue 9 Helicopter helped out, hoisting the patient and taking them for further care.

The hiker's identity was not released.
