Hitting the Road for Spring Break? Falling Gas Prices Will Stretch Your Budget

The price per gallon has dropped a quarter in the past 3 weeks.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped today for the 21st consecutive day following a 35-day streak of increases, decreasing 1.4 cents to $3.234.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped 25.1 cents over the past 21 days, including 1.3 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose $1.087 during the 35-day streak of increases.

The average price is 9.7 cents less than one week ago, 7.1 cents lower than one month ago and 78 cents below what it was one year ago.

“Wholesale (prices) seemed to have gained some stability for the moment and oil prices are hovering around $50 per barrel, which continues to push retail prices down following the spike earlier in the month,” according to Jeffrey Spring, corporate communications manager of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
