Husband, Wife Nabbed In Murrieta Drug Surveillance Operation

MURRIETA, CA — A convicted felon and his wife remained jailed Tuesday morning following their arrests last week during a law enforcement surveillance operation targeting illegal drug activity in a Murrieta residential neighborhood.

Theodore Louis Tilton, 40, and his wife, Miranda Lee Tilton, 29, were taken into custody around 6 a.m. Dec. 30 in the 42000 block of Thoroughbred Lane, according to jail records.

Theodore was being held at Southwest Detention Center on a suspicion of narcotics possession, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possessing an unregistered firearm. His wife was booked into Banning's Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of violating the terms of her probation, jail records show.

Theodore's criminal history in Riverside County stretches back to the early 2000s while his wife's record goes back to 2021, according to court documents.

The Dec. 30 arrests came as members of the Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force conducted pre-dawn surveillance in the neighborhood.

Theodore allegedly exited his home with a loaded firearm and was detained by task force officers without incident. A search warrant was served, and inside the house officers found an unserialized firearm containing 16 live rounds of ammunition, 1.1 pounds of methamphetamine, approximately 2,300 M30 fentanyl pills, 51.4 grams of fentanyl, and approximately 100 morphine pills, according to a press release from the Murrieta Police Department.

Formal charges against the Tiltons were expected to be filed this week. Theodore was being held on $150,000 bail while his wife's bail was $50,000, jail records show.

The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task is comprised of a full-time Murrieta Police Department sergeant, a full-time Murrieta Police Department detective, two full-time Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies, and a California Highway Patrol officer.
