I-15 Fire Prompts Delays: 'Vehicle In Flames'

CHP logs indicate a pair of vehicles caught fire while being transported on a tow truck.

MURRIETA, CA — Traffic was backed up along Interstate 15 southbound Monday morning in the Murrieta area, after two vehicles apparently caught fire. They were both on the back of a tow truck when they ignited, CHP reports show.

The incident was first reported at 9: 22 a.m. on the highway near Murrieta Hot Springs Road. At least one lane was blocked. Google maps data showed a severe slowdown beginning near Clinton Keith Road.

The tow truck pulled over to the right-hand shoulder as the fire was getting larger, reports indicate.
