I-215 Closed In Murrieta Area After Nighttime Crash

The crash prompted the closure of the southbound side of the freeway on Wednesday night, according to the CHP.


MURRIETA, CA — The California Highway Patrol closed the southbound side of Interstate I-215 in the Murrieta area on Wednesday night after a major wreck occurred. The crash was first reported at 8:35 p.m., just north of Clinton Keith Road.

According to preliminary CHP reports, a semi truck and another vehicle collided on the freeway, forcing the vehicle to possibly roll over and throwing debris across the lanes.

An ambulance was called to the scene shortly thereafter, but the extent of any possible injuries was not immediately known.

Due to a subsequent closure of the southbound lanes, traffic was being diverted off of the freeway at Clinton Keith Road, according to the CHP. Traffic reports indicated major delays late Wednesday as a result.
