DATE CHANGE 'Murrieta vs. Temecula' In Charity Softball Challenge
The community is invited to watch as The Creative Bar and 60 Grit Studios face off to raise funds for two non-profits.
MURRIETA, CA —
UPDATE on Dec. 6, 2019 FROM ORGANIZERS: "Unfortunately, due to the rain we will be rescheduling to Sunday, January 12th at 12pm."
-----------------
Two area businesses, The Creative Bar of Murrieta and Temecula-based 60 Grit Studios will meet up Dec. 7 for a "friendly, yet highly competitive" softball tournament to raise funds for local charities— with community members invited to watch and support the causes.
The two companies will face off at Los Alamos Hills Sports Park, field #4, at 4 p.m. in Murrieta for a tournament, that owners intend to be "meaningful" with non-profit beneficiaries.
Each company selected an organization for donations set on who wins and loses. The winner’s designated non-profit will receive $2,500, and the losing team’s designated group will receive $1,000.
The Creative Bar, an advertising agency, selected Oak Grove Center, a residential, educational and treatment center for children throughout California with psychological, emotional and behavioral problems and special needs.
60 Grit Studios, which specializes in retail exhibits, chose Charity for Charity that raises funds to fulfill wishes of local residents with life-threatening illnesses or traumatic injuries.
“We see this as a great opportunity to give back to the community and strengthen relationships with the people we work so closely with," said Gerry Marron, 60 Grit CEO. " We’re excited to play and are hoping that this will include more creative companies in the Temecula and Murrieta areas next year.”
“This is more than just a Murrieta vs. Temecula game between friends and community members," added Justin Lawler of The Creative Bar. "It’s a fun, yet meaningful way to give back to amazing local organizations and also involve more of the community in doing social good. We hope that this is the start of a great tradition!”
The softball game is open to spectators from Murrieta, Temecula and nearby communities, and a concession stand will be open during the game for refreshments with proceeds donated to the designated non-profit organizations, organizers said.
