Lake Elsinore Traffic Stop Ends With Arrests of Ex-Cons for Firearm, Drug Charges
Sheriff's officials say they found a stolen handgun with a modified silencer, an assault rifle with no serial number and narcotics.
Deputies arrested two ex-cons Thursday after making a traffic stop and allegedly finding drugs and firearms in the car, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The Honda Civic was pulled over for an equipment violation at 1:15 a.m. in the 1500 block of Joy Street in Lake Elsinore, and the passenger got out of the car and was uncooperative with deputies, according to a sheriff’s statement.
The car was subsequently searched, and a stolen handgun with a modified silencer, an assault rifle with no serial number and narcotics were found, according to the sheriff’s department.

The driver, Luis Oseguera, 31, of Lake Elsinore, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unregistered assault weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
The passenger, Zefferino Bejarano, 35, of Lake Elsinore, was booked on suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possessing stolen property, possessing methamphetamine for sale and possessing heroin.

Both men were being held at the Southwest Detention Center, with bail set at $50,000 for Oseguera and $30,000 for Bejarano.
