LAKE PERRIS, CA — Lake Perris officials confirmed that a 19-year-old San Bernardino resident drowned there Saturday.

Lifeguards called emergency personnel after a man disappeared from view while swimming near the buoy line at Perris Beach, according to a statement released by California State Parks Superintendent John Rowe. He was swimming with friends at the time he disappeared.

The waters of Lake Perris are also exceedingly low, according to officials. On Friday, they warned boaters to use extreme caution in the area due to the numerous trees, rocks, sand bars, and other hazards. It is unknown if the low water depth contributed to the drowning incidents.
