Local Gas Prices Now Cheapest They've Been In Nearly 4 Years

Industry officials say we're benefiting from the switchover to a "winter blend" of gasoline.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Dec. 4, 2010, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.171.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has dropped 42 consecutive days and 121 of the past 129, decreasing 97.8 cents over that span, including eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 40.1 cents lower than one month ago and 42.2 cents below what it was one year ago.
