Local Girls Win 'Kick For Hope' Soccer Tournament

Legends FC Under-10 girls took the title last weekend at the "Kick For Hope" Tournament in San Diego.

While they were kicking a soccer ball around last weekend, a team of girls from Murrieta and Temecula helped kids in Africa kick life-threatening diseases.

Legends FC Under-10 team captured the title in the “Kick For Hope” Charity Tournament Sunday in San Diego. Proceeds from entry fees went to kickforhope.org, which funds children’s charities in Africa, including money for school books, malaria nets and HIV testing.

Legends FC U10, behind solid goalie play from Amanda Meichtry, blanked the Chula Vista Rangers, 3-0, in the finals. The Legends Football Club is a new club soccer organization in the Murrieta and Temecula area.
