Married SoCal Mom Pleads Guilty In Deadly Sadomasochistic Encounter With Sex Buyer
Michaela Rylaarsdam, 32, reportedly operated out of Menifee as a sex escort. A San Diego County client died following an unusual encounter.
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — A married escort with children — who reportedly operated out of Menifee with approval from her husband — is facing prison time after pleading guilty last week to involuntary manslaughter following a consensual encounter of sadomasochism that turned deadly.
Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam, 32, entered her plea May 6 in a San Diego County courtroom. She is slated to be sentenced next month to four years in prison after her client, 56-year-old Michael Dale, of Escondido, died in April 2023 from asphyxiation.
Investigators alleged Rylaarsdam placed duct tape over Dale's mouth and a plastic bag and Saran Wrap over his head during a recorded sexual encounter. Holding a vibrator and a cellphone, she filmed Dale for content for her OnlyFans page where she went by the moniker Asshley SinCal.

Because his limbs were bound, Dale could not remove the coverings. He remained inside the bag for several minutes, and when he became unresponsive, Rylaarsdam called 911. He was declared brain dead the next day, according to authorities.
An investigation into the death was launched by the Escondido Police Department, and on February 19, 2025, Rylaarsdam was arrested. She is currently being held at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee, jail records show.

According to investigators, on the date of the sexual encounter, Dale had several unusual requests, including asking Rylaarsdam to affix a pair of women's boots to his feet using Gorilla Glue, and wrapping him like a mummy in Saran Wrap.
But investigators claimed there was no evidence that Dale ever requested Rylaarsdam to secure a plastic bag over his head.
Her attorney, Dan Cohen, previously told reporters that his client had no intention of killing Dale.
"I think there was no intent to kill and no attempt to cover this up," he said. "And she acted appropriately when she realized this was a problem. There is definitely a consensual element — not only something he consented to, something he was actively seeking."
Dale reportedly paid Rylaarsdam $11,000 for the fatal encounter, according to investigators. She advertised her services through online sites, including OnlyFans, with business help from her husband, who she reportedly shares three children with.
Online, Rylaarsdam described herself as an "upscale and classy creation." She also touted "intoxicating and provocative performance[s]" and "naughty games."
