Menifee 5th Grader Moves On In RivCo Spelling Bee In March
The Menifee Union School District is sending one 5th grader to the next round of competition.
MENIFEE, CA — Menifee Union School District is sending one 5th Grader on to the next round of the 2024 Spelling Bee competition.
Elijah Decano, a 5th Grader representing Southshore Elementary School, won the Thursday competition with the winning word: Tempura.
A total of 38 students competed in the district's Bee, maneuvering through 10 rounds and spelling 102 words, according to the district spokesperson Josué Reyna.

"Elijah will move on to represent the district at the upcoming Riverside County Spelling Bee on March 28," Reyna said.
The district's second-place winner, Karla Carapia, from Menifee Valley Middle School, won 2nd place. Reyna added:
