MENIFEE, CA — The old fire station at 28971 Goetz Road in Quail Valley has undergone an $8.855 million transformation.

Menifee city officials, along with Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department personnel and elected leaders, celebrated the station's grand opening Tuesday.

The new 9,000-square-foot facility replaces the much smaller Station No. 5 that was built in the 1960s. The upgraded facility now houses up to eight fire personnel and accommodates a large ladder truck and other vehicles inside the full-size,three-bay garage.

According to the city, the station was designed to serve Menifee's firefighting needs for the next 50 years and can accommodate future expansion.

"It is great to see new infrastructure being built in the Quail Valley community, and this fire station will help ensure that we continue to protect our residents and provide the best service possible," said District 2 City Councilmember Ricky Estrada. "Our City Council has made a strong commitment to investing in public safety to ensure Menifee remains one of the safest cities in California."

The station's total construction cost was $8.855 million, with nearly two-thirds of the funding allocated from Measure DD (the Menifee Quality of Life Measure) passed by city voters in November 2016. The ballot initiative approved a one-cent sales tax to provide local funding for city services, including emergency preparedness, police and fire, and road safety and traffic mitigation.

Menifee has a total of four fire stations. In addition to No. 5, there is Station No. 7 at 28349 Bradley Road, Station No. 68 at 26020 Wickerd Road, and Station No. 76 at 29950 Menifee Road.

The city contracts for fire services with Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Chief Bill Weiser said the new station enhances the agency's ability to respond to emergencies faster and more effectively, thanks to the facility's larger capacity, modern infrastructure, and updated firefighting technology.

"This station represents the commitment and unwavering support that the Menifee City Council has shown to public safety, specifically the fire department," the chief said.
