Menifee Man Dies In Murrieta-Area Hit-And-Run
Felony hit-and-run charges are pending for a Rav4 driver thought to have struck a pedestrian on State Route 79 in the Winchester area.
MURRIETA, CA —A 41-year-old Menifee man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend in the unincorporated community of Winchester.
California Highway Patrol responded to State Route 79 just south of Scott Road on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. to find a pedestrian had been struck by a "passing vehicle while walking in the northbound traffic lane," CHP Officer Mike Lassig reports.
The victim was declared dead at the scene by AMR medics.

Investigating officers found broken car parts and learned they were looking for a 2016 Toyota Rav 4.
Through "investigative leads," the car driver, a 71 Temecula man, was later found in Hemet.

The driver was questioned and showed no signs of impairment. However, felony hit and run charges are pending for that driver, Lassig reported.
