More youth are riding the bus thanks to a 25-cent special fare offered during summer and winter breaks.
During the latest promotion, which was between December 21 and January 12, Riverside Transit Agency buses carried 24,700 youth boardings. That’s 33 percent higher than the same time last year! As part of the promotion, RTA allows youth to ride for a quarter anytime buses operate, anywhere they go. The promotion has been a hit ever since it was first offered a few years ago.
In fact, during the last year, RTA buses carried a record 214,000 youth boardings, a 10 percent increase compared to a year before and 25 percent higher than two years ago.
The Riverside Transit Agency provides public transportation for Western Riverside County, operating 39 fixed routes, eight express routes and Dial-A-Ride service.
