"Following a thorough inspection, the bridge structure remains completely sound and safe," a spokesperson for the fire department shared over social media. "While the bridge itself is secure, the roadway is currently closed while we finish repairs on the adjacent water main and pavement."

On Tuesday, the city of Murrieta and the Murrieta Police Department shared that the roadway was closed at the bridge and would remain so until further notice.

"There is one pedestrian pathway that will remain open for students to access after school," a police spokesperson said. This was due to a water main break, and a section of roadway that was unsafe for travel until repairs were completed.

Numerous residents wondered after the closure that was still in place on Wednesday morning.

"Your safety—whether you’re driving or walking—is our top priority," the Murrieta Fire & Rescue department shared. "We’ll provide a specific reopening schedule as soon as it’s finalized."
