Murrieta Church Hands Out Backpacks 4 Life At Community Safety Event

Murrieta businesses, first responders donated time and safety information at the Greater Works Church Backpack 4 Life event.

MURRIETA, CA — On Saturday, the Murrieta Police Department gathered with community members to talk safety during a free backpack event.

The Backpack 4 Life event, sponsored by Greater Works Church of Murrieta, was held at the church's Murrieta location on Jefferson. Each donated backpack was filled with school supplies to any child who needed one, and stations on health and safety educated all present.Families with children present were gifted with one full backpack per child, as well as fun activities for the day.

The church-sponsored event hosted a kids zone with games, water play, jumper, face painter and also shared free food and gently used clothing for any in need. Experts were on hand to teach the community members about health, mental health, fitness and financial awareness, according to the flyer.

Murrieta police officers talked about safety, and commented about the day on social media.

"We are always happy to get out into the community," a department spokesperson wrote. "We are committed to working in the community to improve the quality of life for everyone."
