Murrieta Girl Crowned Miss Pre-Teen
Alyssa Avila, a seventh-grader at Thompson Middle School, won her age division at the Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino Pageant held March 11.
A Murrieta girl was recently crowned Miss Pre-Teen San Bernardino.
Twelve-year-old Alyssa Avila, a seventh-grader at , won the Pre-Teen age division as well as Miss Congeniality for her division. The pageant was held March 11 in Glendora.
Contestants from 7 to 19 years old competed in four age divisions. The girls were judged while modeling casual wear and formal wear, and on their personality and interview skills.
Alyssa, along with the winners of three other age divisions, qualified to compete for cash and prizes during a national competition in Orlando, Fla.
While this Alyssa's first pageant, it won't be her first time in Florida, according to Anthony Avila, her father.
Alyssa went visted the Sunshine State in December 2011 when her cheer squad, the Murrieta Valley Pop Warner Midget team, competed in the Pop Warner Cheer Championships, he said.
