They doused the fire within 15 minutes and then used a large fan to ventilate smoke from the home, making sure the fire was fully extinguished.
No residents were hurt, and no firefighters were injured battling the blaze, according to Murrieta Fire Department spokeswoman Dawn Morrison. There was no mention of pets being left inside the burning home.

The Red Cross is helping the family, who received a "Save Card" funded by the California Fire Foundation, according to Dawn Morrison of the Murrieta Fire department. The family can use the card to buy food or purchase other necessities while they are displaced.

In total, 18 firefighters responded to the incident from four engine companies, one ladder truck, one paramedic squad, and one battalion chief.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Thursday morning.
