MURRIETA, CA — The City of Murrieta's Public Library is seeking assistance with its latest expansion plans, specifically a children's area library expansion. Thus far, only $1,740 has been raised by the Murrieta Public Library Foundation.

Kevin Coon, the Murrieta Public Library Foundation's board president, started the GoFundMe to raise money for the expansion.

"Do you want to be remembered for your support of reading, literacy, and children’s education in the city of Murrieta and surrounding communities?" Coon asks in his fundraising campaign. "NOW is the time to make your impact felt!

"We need your immediate support to fully fund the children’s area expansion of the Murrieta Public Library. With your investment, we will increase access to children’s materials & resources, enhance programming options for kids, and create safe, welcoming, and engaging new children’s spaces for families in our community to enjoy now and for all future generations!

"The funds we raise will go directly to supporting the expansion of our one and only library building in Murrieta. If we can fully fund this project, the children's section will grow it's footprint by approximately 4,500 sq/ft and will house everything that the library needs to support children and their families for the life of the building.

Coon thanked all who have contributed even as he seeks additional funds, saying: "We know there are lots of deserving projects out there, but few will allow you to show your unwavering and everlasting support for children's literacy and education."
