Murrieta PD Arrests 2 Following Neighborhood SWAT Scene

UPDATED: Officials say an area of town is back open after a three-hour closure.


MURRIETA, CA — Two people have been arrested following intense police activity in Murrieta on Thursday, officials say. Though police have been tight-lipped in the ordeal, they said their operation resulted in the arrests "without incident" by early afternoon.

Police activity in Murrieta on Thursday morning first prompted officials to ask residents to steer clear of a certain part of town. Around 10:25 a.m., the Murrieta Police Department posted a message on social media about the incident.

"The Murrieta Police Department is currently working in the area of Fairview Court and Daphne Drive," the agency said. "Please avoid the area."

Police officers from neighboring agencies were spotted at the scene as well, while Murrieta PD eventually blocked a stretch of Daphne Drive off to through traffic.

"Two subjects have been taken into custody without incident," police reported at 1:12 p.m. "Officers are clearing and the Detectives are taking over the investigation. Daphne is now open. Thank you for your cooperation."

The agency later thanked the Murrieta/Hemet SWAT team "for responding and resolving the situation without incident."
