Murrieta DUI Checkpoint Yields 23 Citations, 2 Arrests
Results from the latest DUI checkpoint at Clinton Keith Road in Murrieta.

MURRIETA, CA — The Murrieta Police Department has released results from its May 7 DUI checkpoint held on Clinton Keith Road, showing that 23 citations were handed out during the seven-hour operation.
The checkpoint began at 7 p.m. May 7 and ended at 2 a.m. May 8. Officers stopped and screened over 1,200 vehicles. Of those, a total of 23 people received citations; one driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"We also managed to locate and arrested a passenger who had three felony warrants," the department reported on social media.

“The safety of our community is and always will be our mission,” Murrieta Police Chief Tony Conrad said. “We are looking for impaired drivers because driving under the influence is dangerous and puts the driver and others on the road at risk.”
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests, according to the department.
The DUI checkpoint was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the police.
