Some Murrieta Schools Closing Early Due To Wildomar Fire
BREAKING: School district officials say they'll be releasing students early on Friday "out of an abundance of caution."

MURRIETA, CA — Four Murrieta schools are releasing students early today, as a result of the Wildomar Fire burning nearby, the school district announced. Though the schools are not currently in imminent danger of the fire, the district says concerns of afternoon flare ups prompted the early release "out of an abundance of caution." Students at Cole Canyon Elementary School, Thompson Middle School, Murrieta Valley High School and Murrieta Canyon Academy were all going home early. Nearby Lake Elsinore Unified says schools were open there.
"There is not an emergency at the current time," Murrieta Valley Unified School District wrote on Facebook.

- Cole Canyon Elementary parents may begin picking students up from school at 10:15
- Thompson Middle School parents may begin picking students up from school up at 11:15
- Murrieta Valley High School – parents may begin picking students up from school up at 10:30 or students will be released at that time
- Murrieta Canyon Academy – parents may begin picking students up from school up at 10:30 or students will be released at that time
If students ride the bus on routes that were not impacted this morning, students will be released at the above times to ride the bus home and students will be dismissed to parents at their bus stop.
K-5 Students who are not picked up will be held at the schools until parents, guardians or emergency contacts can pick them up. Middle school students will be dismissed similarly or students may show staff verification of parent authorization to release at the established dismissal time through cell phone message.
