Murrieta Under Heat Advisory: Outdoor Workers, Take Notice
Southwest Riverside County remains under a heat advisory Monday. Hot weather is expected this week, though a cooling trend is coming.
MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta begins the week under a heat advisory as temperatures spiked into the 100s and the humidity hovers around 30 percent, the National Weather Service reported.
The advisory which began Sunday will be in effect until at least 8 p.m. Monday, covering most of western Riverside County and the lower half of San Bernardino County.
"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside," the NWS stated. "When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion."
In Southwest Riverside County highs will be in the mid-90s Monday and Tuesday, with lows in the mid to lower 60s, according to the NWS.
The high in Murrieta was expected to hover in the low 90s Monday, according to Accuweather. Lows aren't likely to fall below the mid-60s until Tuesday at the earliest. Temperatures are expected to drop by the weekend into the 80s.
Highs on Saturday were up to 12 degrees above average for this time of year, the NWS said.
High pressure has stalled over Nevada and is influencing regional weather patterns, ushering in brittle, dry, hot conditions, meteorologists said.
"As the high-pressure centers over the Great Basin, this opens the door for easterly monsoonal flow to enter Southern California," the NWS said. "Slight chances of thunderstorms (are) in the forecast for the mountains and deserts on Monday afternoon and evening."
In the Coachella Valley, the highs will hover around 110 through the weekend and into early next week, with lows generally in the low 80s.
