Murrieta Valley High School alumna Amber Wharton will play women’s basketball for California State University Dominguez Hills on a full-ride scholarship this winter, her father, Jeff Wharton, told Patch.
After graduating from Murrieta Valley in 2011 and being named the 2010-2011 Southwestern League MVP, the 5-foot-9-inch guard went on to play for Irvine Valley College.
While a Laser, Wharton was first-team all-conference for two years. She averaged 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game this past season, according to a news release by Irvine Valley College.
