MURRIETA, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Cathy Telles who nominated Paula Telles of Murrieta.

How do you know the star local student?

Daughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Paula has been an exceptional scholar athlete. Moving to Murrieta in 2020, Paula transitioned into her new school Murrieta Valley High School. Even in the middle of the pandemic, Paula was able to transition well. She has been on the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team since her freshman year. She continued playing high school and travel basketball all while completing her International Baccalaureate Diploma. She has been accepted into 6 universities with a combination of athletic and academic scholarships. At the end, Paula chose her #1 choice-Cal Poly Pomona to pursue her degree in Civil Engineering. Although she will not play collegiate basketball, she will continue her passion of playing basketball.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She is the kindest, respectful and most hard working person I know. She is loved by her teachers, coaches, family and friends. We are so proud of all she’s accomplished.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Paula Telles!
