Murrieta's Cooling Center Open For Seniors At Risk From Extreme Heat
The Murrieta Senior Center will open as a cooling center when temperatures rise above 97 degrees, which is expected this week.
MURRIETA, CA — With the arrival of a July heatwave, Murrieta reminds its senior residents of a way to beat the heat.
The Murrieta Senior Center, located at 5 Town Square, Murrieta, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
During heatwaves, it "serves as a cooling center to help residents cope safely with extreme weather conditions when the heat index is predicted to be dangerously high," according to the city.
"The Murrieta Senior Center will open as a cooling center when temperatures are expected to reach above 97 degrees," according to previous reports.
Here, senior citizens aged 50 and up who are at risk from extreme heat can find relief. This program provides a drop-in for temporary relief from the heat, according to the city.
The center is available to seniors 50 and older who need a place to escape the heat of the day.
