New Development Proposed At Murrieta Hot Springs Road, Near I-215

Beyond Food Mart Inc.​ wants to construct a gas station, convenience store and drive-thru carwash on MHS Road, at Jackson Avenue.

MURRIETA, CA — A company new to Murrieta is looking to construct a convenience store, gas station and carwash along Murrieta Hot Springs Road, just east of Interstate 215, and the public has a chance to weigh in.

Beyond Food Mart Inc. is requesting approval from the city of a development plan, conditional use permit, and a minor conditional use permit to build and operate an eight-island gas station, a 7,274-square-foot convenience store with a drive-thru, a Type 20 ABC license for off-site sale of beer and wine, and an attached 1,893 square-foot drive-thru carwash. The development would also feature 31,538-square-feet of landscaping and 34 parking spaces.

The project would be situated on 2.4 acres of a 4.7-acre site on Murrieta Hot Springs Road at the northeast corner of Jackson Avenue. Access to the proposed development would be via two 40-foot driveways along highly trafficked Murrieta Hot Springs Road.

The business proposes to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and would include 12 full-time employees, according to city documents.

Beyond Food Mart has five existing sites in the Inland Empire, with the nearest in Temecula at 40135 Village Road.

The public is asked to provide comments on environmental documents that have been drafted for the Murrieta project. The project application, plans, environmental documentation, technical studies, and other related information can be viewed at http://www.murrietaca.gov/290/Public-Notices. The public can also come to the City Hall Planning Division office during business hours to review the documents, or get access by calling or emailing Aaron Rintamäki, city of Murrieta associate planner, at 951-461-6079, ARintamaki@MurrietaCA.gov.

The comment period for the documents began Tuesday and closes at 5 p.m. on November 25, 2021. Submit comments to:

Once the comment period closes, the city will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of the Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed project and approval of the development plan and conditional use permit. A notice about the public hearing will come at a later date.
