Noonan Family Swim School is not just a place for swim lessons; it’s a place for families. And families are who they seek to reach with an informational booth at Sunday's
Founded in San Diego in 2004 by Jeff and Monica Noonan, the swim school has now has several locations in San Diego and Riverside counties. Noonan established its in 2007 and offers indoor swim lesson for children of all ages, six days a week.
"We offer weekly lessons with one instructor to every three students,” said Karen Tarin program coordinator for the Murrieta location. They also boast a program, “splash babies,” for children three months to two years.
“Children learn how to roll over to [in order] to breathe in case they fall into the pool,” said Tarin. “They also learn to be comfortable in the water which makes it easier when they transition into lessons.”
This is especially important for families with small children and pools. Tarin has had many families attend swimming lessons after a child has fallen in the pool. However, Tarin is quick to point out that knowing how to swim is important for all ages.
“Drowning is the sixth leading cause of unintentional injury death for people of all ages, and the second leading cause of death for children ages one to 14 years,” according to the Center for Disease Control.
“All of which are 100 percent preventable,” said Tarin.
However, what sets Noonan Family Swim School apart from other swim schools is their attention to the family unit.
They offer swim lessons for all ages and a waiting area for kids to enjoy while they wait for their lesson. Additionally, they have two swim teams for older children.
Lessons start out at $66 per month per child and sibling and referral discounts are available.
Birthday party packages are also available. Parties include two private hours in the pool with lessons and free swim, snacks and beverages, cake, a lifeguard, balloons and pool-oriented activities. Noonan sends the invitations out for parties.
