WINCHESTER, CA — A fire that broke out in the Winchester area on Thursday — and quickly consumed more than a thousand acres of brush and one structure — continues to burn on Friday, but officials made significant progress overnight. As of 9 a.m. Friday, the blaze was considered 85 percent contained.
Fire officials tell Patch the size is holding at 1,261 acres. Crews will continue their firefighting efforts Friday, but less resources are expected to be committed.
The cooler, wet weather is expected to help fireighters on Friday.
