On a night of fast breaks, the girls from Murrieta Valley put on a show in front of a crowd of several hundred fans.

It took three-and-a-half minutes for Murrieta Valley to take the lead, but once they had it, there was no looking back in their 71-48 rout over the visiting Westchester team in round one of Division 2 state basketball playoff action Wednesday evening.

It was MV 15 and Westchester 10 after one quarter, 38-18 at halftime, and 53-24 after three quarters.

Several reserves saw playing time and now look forward to Saturday's quarterfinal match-up at top-seeded Ridgeview (Bakersfield), winners over Redondo Union Wednesday evening, 64-47.
