PHOTOS: Murrieta Honors Veterans With Parade, Field Of Flags

From a field of flags to a flyover to a patriotic parade, Murrieta goes all out to honor its military veterans, past and present.

MURRIETA, CA — If there's one thing the city of Murrieta, its residents and their Southwest Riverside County neighbors always come together for, it's the week-long Murrieta Rotary Field of Honor capped off by the annual Veterans Day Parade. This year, the patriotic tradition continued as rows upon rows of American flags with yellow ribbons dedicated to military veterans past and present graced Town Square Park.

Then on Saturday morning, thousands of community members decked out in red, white and blue — including some four-legged ones — filled Historic Downtown Murrieta for the 15th annual Murrieta Veterans Day parade. Many were there to watch and wave American flags of all sizes, while others with various local organizations were there to participate in the huge show of support and gratitude for those who have served and those who continue to serve in U.S. military branches.

Check it all out in the above gallery of more than 70 photos taken Saturday by Mark Ritter of the flyover, veterans on parade through downtown and flags at the Murrieta Rotary Field of Honor. Thanks so much for capturing these amazing images, Mark, enabling Patch to share with the community!
