Remembering September 11th
For the twelfth consecutive year, the combined middle school choirs at Thompson Middle School have commemorated the 9/11 day of tragedy with a performance of patriotic songs.
Thompson Middle School’s choral director, Bryan Boos, led the 165-member combined choir in two mid-day performances for students, parents, and the community. The short assembly was held in the school’s multipurpose room with several hundred in the audience.
With the school year just finishing its fourth week in session, the sixth through eighth graders and their tightly-blended voices brought tender emotion to the surface for those in attendance.
Songs performed included: “The Star Spangled Banner,” “A Salute to the Military,” a patriotic medley, and “God Bless the USA.”

A few of these students weren’t yet alive in 2001 when our nation was attacked, yet marvelously shared their talents, accompanied by the choirs’ pianist, Paula Arlich.
In an e-mail to parents of the choir members, Boos wrote that the annual event is in honor of “the people that lost and/or gave their lives on 9/11/01, as well as all who have given their lives in the military, fire service, police, etc. to protect us. . .”
