RivCo Fatal Crash: Woman Dies When Car Strikes Light Pole
An early-morning crash on Friday led to the death of a Hemet-area driver.
HEMET, CA — A woman was killed Friday after her vehicle collided with a light pole in Valle Vista, near Hemet.
The crash was reported about 2 a.m. Friday near the intersection of State Route 74 and Ramona Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency stated a Volkswagen Golf traveling at an unspecified rate of speed on Ramona Expressway crashed with a traffic signal light pole. What caused the crash was not immediately known.
Paramedics arrived at the scene a short time later and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
A Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson said that arriving crews encountered a vehicle fully involved in fire, which was contained roughly eight minutes after arrival.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, the CHP stated.
