Riverside County Gas Price Surpasses Record-High Set In 2012

The previous record high of $4.688, set on Oct. 8, 2012, was matched Wednesday and broken Thursday.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose to a record high Friday for the second consecutive day, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.698.

The average price has risen 16 of the past 19 days, increasing 10.5 cents, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 3.8 cents more than one week ago, 9.4 cents higher than one month ago and $1.207 greater than one year ago.

The previous record high of $4.688, set on Oct. 8, 2012, was matched Wednesday and broken Thursday. The 2012 figure included stations in San Bernardino County.

"Oil prices continue to push toward $100 a barrel, but Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have plunged by about 14 cents a gallon since Monday, so we could see pump prices pause or drop soon if that trend continues," said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications and programs manager.
