Santa Rosa Plateau Workshops Planned For Earth Day 2023
Kids and young adults are encouraged to build an appreciation for the world and understand their place in it at Santa Rosa Plateau.

MURRIETA, CA — The 3rd Annual Nature Education Resource Forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Earth Day at the Cedar Dove Ranch on the Santa Rosa Plateau in the hills of Murrieta.
The event is designed for those engaged in nature, environmental, nature and science education. Registration is $25 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, and resource materials.
"You'll learn of resources to help you impart information, tools and inspiration to teach our youth about the diversity of nature from unique animals to different landscapes and climates," a spokesperson said.
The goal is to encourage kids and young adults to build an appreciation for the world around them, help them understand their place in it, and guide them toward a life of environmental stewardship.
Space is limited to 60 adults. Advance registrations only. No day-of-event walk-ins. Register at NatureEduForum on Eventbrite or www.srpnef.org.
The Forum includes the following workshops: How You and Your Students Can Become a
Community Scientist, Sustainable Living From Your Backyard, What’s Going On With Our Bees,
Why Certain Plants and Animals on the Santa Rosa Plateau are Studied, and Colleague
Conversation Circles.
The Forum will feature a special guest speaker Krystle Hickman; a community scientist,
conservation photographer, TEDx speaker and artist based in Los Angeles. Through artful
photography, Krystle strives to increase awareness of the decline in native bee species as well as
highlight their biodiverse ecosystems.
Since 2019 Krystle has worked with organizations like the Los Angeles County Arboretum, Theodore Payne, and Arlington Garden; teaching classes and regularly photographing and documenting their native bee habitats. Her aim is to keep accurate records of population changes. She is duplicating her research in the Mojave Desert, the Santa Monica Mountains, San Diego County and backyards with native gardens. Throughout the process, she consults with experts in different areas of Melittology (Scientific Study of Native Bees). Meet Krystle at www.beesip.com.
