If you are a person who loves to sample wines or sit down to wine-pairing meals, then the Temecula Wine Country is a must. You will have the opportunity to see a wide range of wineries. From the homely family run outfits to those that have carved a name in the export business, you will see it all.
Most Wineries are located on Rancho California Road and a few others are on De Portola Road.
It is difficult to actually zero in one or two excellent wineries. They are all good in their own ways. Perhaps a categorization based on their offerings could simplify things.
Ponte Winery for example has 25 years of service behind them, they opened their winery and restaurant in 2003. In terms of uniqueness, Wilson Creek is where you should head for almond champagne. Thornton’s bubbly is unbeatable as is its wine-pairing meals. Falkner and Bailey Wineries are in the same league as well.
