'Severe Neglect' Of Juvenile In Murrieta Under Investigation: Police

Police converged on a local house Tuesday evening for the investigation. Details are limited at this time, but here's what we know.

MURRIETA, CA — A case of apparent neglect of a juvenile is under investigation in Murrieta, Patch has learned. Details surrounding the case are extremely limited at this time, but several police units — marked and unmarked — and a forensics team were spotted Tuesday outside a residence in a quiet neighborhood off of California Oaks Road and Jackson Avenue where the juvenile lives.

Murrieta Police Lt. Tony Conrad tells Patch that the juvenile, for which a gender or age was not provided, "...was found to be in a state of severe neglect" on Tuesday at a home on Verdun Lane.

"The juvenile's condition is serious and the juvenile is receiving medical attention at this time," he said.

As of late Tuesday, no arrests had been made in the case, but Conrad says that detectives were interviewing family and witnesses in the case. An update is expected sometime Wednesday.

It's not yet clear how the call came in for police to go to the house, but the neglected juvenile was apparently spotted by authorities when they responded to the location.

Patch will follow up on this story and provide updates as they become available.
