Head-On Collision Injures 2, Closes SR-74 Wednesday Morning

A collision in Good Hope led to a full closure of eastbound SR-74 while emergency officials tended to patients.

GOOD HOPE, CA — Eastbound lanes of State Route 74 near Perris were closed temporarily due to a head-on collision Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

Just after 6 a.m., thecrash occurred in the 24000 Block of West Highway 74 at Ellis Avenue in the unincorporated county area of Good Hope.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters arrived after reports that a Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Malibu had collided "head-on" in that intersection, a CHP spokesperson said.

Firefighters found a two-vehicle traffic collision and one person thrown from a vehicle, they said. That patient's condition was not immediately released. Another person was trapped inside a vehicle, and lanes were blocked.

By 7 a.m., fire department paramedics were treating patients at the scene. Highway 74 will be closed in both directions until further notice, according to CHP. The road was reopened by 10:30 a.m., according to CHP.
