Smoke from Prado Dam Blaze Prompts Air Quality Advisory

The South Coast Air Quality Management District said a smoke advisory remains in effect for parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Drifting smoke from the fire burning on the northern edge of Corona prompted the issuance of an air quality advisory Monday for the inland region.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District said a smoke advisory remains in effect for parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, particularly those closest to the Prado Dam, where a blaze broke out Saturday evening and has since charred just over 1,000 acres.

“Improved weather conditions and control of the fire have decreased smoke in the area [Monday] morning, although there continues to be low-lying smoke in the surrounding areas,” an alert from the SCAQMD states. “There could still be heavy smoke at times as the situation evolves. [Monday], onshore flow will bring smoke into parts of the Inland Empire, but dispersion will be better with a deeper marine layer.”
