Snow on Its Way to Riverside County Mountains, NWS Says

The NWS issued winter weather advisory in anticipation of Sunday's snowfall, which will be in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Snow is expected touch down upon Riverside County mountainsides Sunday night, due to a cold front sweeping through the region, the National Weather Service said Saturday.

The NWS issued winter weather advisory in anticipation of Sunday’s snowfall, which will be in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.

Winter weather advisories are issued when snow, slippery roads and reduced visibility could possibly affect travel. Winter chains may be required in some areas.

Scattered showers will start late Sunday afternoon, becoming snow, with the largest accumulation between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. and several inches of snow expected above 6500 feet in mountainous county areas.

The snowy weather will be accompanied by southwest winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour, according to the NWS.

The snowfall is expected to cease early Monday morning.
