Some Riverside County Property Owners Owed Refunds: See List
The refunds must be claimed by Aug. 3 otherwise the money will go into county coffers.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Residential or commercial property owners in Riverside County have until August 3 to claim property tax refunds.
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors V. Manuel Perez and Tax Treasurer-Collector Jon Christensen last week issued a reminder to give taxpayers.
"During these difficult times, now more than ever we must send these funds to their owners," Perez said. Instructions for filing and a list of 2015 and prior unclaimed property tax refunds are available on the Treasurer-Tax Collector's website here.

According to Christensen, a total of 609 refunds valued at $651,006.30 remain unclaimed. Most refunds arise from reductions in the county assessor's assessment and are tied to corrections or cancellations with the tax return after they have already been paid, county officials said.
Under California law, property tax refunds that have not been claimed within four years after the payment date or one year after the claim form has been mailed to the taxpayer must be transferred to county coffers by order of the board of supervisors.

After August 3, unclaimed money transferred to the county coffers can no longer be claimed.
Both the form to submit the claim and the documentation to verify it must be sent by email to PropTaxUnclaimed@rivco.org or by mail to:
