Strange Noises Lead RivCo Family To Discover Someone Living Underneath Their House

First they heard an alarm clock sounding from somewhere in their rental home, then the strange power cords. Finally, they called the police.

HEMET, CA — Months after moving into a rental house in Riverside County, a local family discovered a secret cellar with someone living beneath their home.

A Hemet family investigating sounds of closing doors and an alarm clock buzzing from somewhere inside their rental home discovered the hidden cellar with evidence of someone squatting, KTLA reported.

“When I’m in another area of my house, I can hear doors close,” Charnita Matthews told KTLA. "I have four children and my husband travels," Matthews added. "I'm scared to be here alone."

The family pulled a board from their back deck siding and discovered the cellar where someone had recently stored cleaning products, drug paraphernalia and plugged in a fan, they told KTLA.

The street address of the home was not released.
