Supervisors OK List of Go-To Fire Contractors

Riverside County supervisors approved a list Tuesday of five engineering firms considered "pre-qualified" to handle any county infrastructure project that requires a fire protection system.

Economic Development Agency Director Rob Field sought to add the five contractors under a board policy approved last August that permits the EDA to select properly vetted entities for various work.

By having a go-to list, the county can "accelerate" moving a project from the planning phase to completion, Field said.

Under the policy, the EDA can also hire construction management consultants for capital improvement jobs without delay.

The contractors approved Tuesday will be placed on the pre-qualified list for installation of sprinkler systems and other technologies that counter fire threats. The firms are:

• Los Angeles-based AON Fire Protection Engineering;
• Santa Ana-based CSG Consultants Inc.;
• Corona-based Goss Engineering Inc.;
• Huntington Beach-based Interwest Consulting Group; and
• Corona-based Pacific Fire Engineering Inc.

Anaheim-based Jensen Hughes was the first firm placed on the list last year.

All of the companies will be subject to annual performance reviews, according to Field.
