Suspect Shot, Killed In RivCo Backyard Amid Compliance Check: Sheriff
A deputy-involved shooting has occurred, claiming the life of a suspect who "ignored officers commands," Monday, according to a statement.

PERRIS, CA — One person sustained fatal gunshot wounds after being confronted by a Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputy in Perris, officials said. The suspect had brandished a handgun and ignored the deputy's commands, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez.

"The involved deputy will be placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy," she said, adding that the name of the deputy would not be released at this time as it was an active and open investigation.
