TRAFFIC ALERT: I-15 Closure in Murrieta Tonight

According to Murrieta city officials, the entire northbound side of I-15 will be closed around 11:45 p.m. and will reopen around 5 a.m. Wed.

Part of Interstate 15 in Murrieta will be shut down Tuesday night-- meaning travel delays -- while crews complete the final phase of a bridge replacement project.

According to Murrieta city officials, the entire northbound side of I-15 will be closed around 11:45 p.m. and will reopen around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Motorists will be detoured off the freeway at Murrieta Hot Springs Road and routed back to the interstate via California Oaks Road, officials said.

Beginning 10 p.m. Wednesday, the southbound side of I-15 will be shut down and will reopen at 4 a.m. Thursday. In the meantime, motorists will detoured off the freeway at California Oaks Road and taken back to I-15 via Murrieta Hot Springs Road.

According to the city, crews are in the final week of work on the $10 million Los Alamos Road Overcrossing at I-15 Project. The original overpass was demolished and replaced by a larger span to accommodate increased traffic flow.

The city is scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate completion of the new structure on Nov. 3.
